Phase 4 Imagine It
The problem that I see arising is being able to keep the content and also my techniques of teaching content relevant to students. Students are driven by their daily lives and what they experience in their daily lives. Students are interested in science and math however, they need to have something tangible or hands on to believe its importance.
The way I plan to solve this problem is in my STEM classroom to really bring in the science and make my students feel like scientists. I have a STEM club that meets every Friday afternoon and the club itself consists of about 25 boys and 5 girls. I believe this will have a huge impact on how I design my club. We recently received a grant with the NEED project in which we will receive all types of materials to show students the importance of STEM in the form of solar energy and the use of natural resources. So far, I have noticed an improved interest in the club members that has transferred into my classroom. They are excited to learn more about STEM and our world around us as well as attend class and club on Friday.
